Foot Narrowing Surgery
Foot Narrowing (Cinderella Surgery)
Not all patients with a wide foot are eligible for foot narrowing. However, if you have a big-toe joint bunion (hallux valgus), then treating this will narrow the foot. If you also have a little toe-joint bunion as well - termed a Tailor's bunions, then the the effect of narrowing will be more profound and will allow for a wider range of footwear, once healed.
Patients with this wide foot type often also have long middle toes, and these can be shortened at the same time.
Most of our techniques can be safely undertaken under a local anaesthetic as a day-case surgery.
X-rays will be required to establish the amount of narrowing that can be safely achieved and as stated not all patients will be able to have the surgery. Our consultant has over 30 years surgical experience in foot narrowing surgery. The consultation will cover the condition, how the correction is undertaken, rehabilitation, post surgical recovery requirements and the risks of the surgery. See examples of our work below.
