Tailor's Bunion

Tailor's Bunion/Bunionette (little toe-joint bunion)

The surgery to correct a Tailors’ bunion is similar to correcting a big-toe joint bunion, recovery tends to be quicker although you will still need to wear a walker-boot for four weeks afterwards.

The long bone (5th metatarsal) to the little toe is cut (osteotomy) and corrected and fixed with two titanium bone screws. The procedure will narrow the foot once the swelling has gone after a few months. Unlike a big-toe joint bunion (hallux valgus), Tailor's bunions very rarely re-occur once corrected.
